HEFA is a Section 8 Not for Profit company. We look to partner with companies and tap into the power of CSR by mobilizing CSR funds accrued from PSUs/Corporates and philanthropists. These funds will then be given as grants to higher learning institutions in the quest to uplift research and innovation.
HEFA is a non-profit venture created under section 8 of Indian companies act hence CSR funds from companies are channeled to improving research, development, and innovation in higher learning institutions. In other words, any company can donate to us and we will route the funds to institutions on the basis of their needs.
The beauty is that HEFA is a union government institution run by Canara Bank, a bank with 100 years experience in banking not to mention a board boasting top level education experts so you can rest assured that you are always dealing with a company you can trust!
“We are for giving real autonomy to quality institutions on all aspects. The IIM Bill, which was tabled in the Lok Sabha on Thursday, is an example of the government’s intention,” Javadekar added.
HEFA is all about scaling the standards of education in higher educational institutions by financing their infrastructure and creation of other capital assets. Our higher Educational Institutions were under funded and require new sources of finance to match their global peers.
Hefa will also encourage corporates and other philanthropic individuals to contribute for the same.We are therefore foreseeing lots of positive impacts in the future of education.

We recognize the fact that institutions have been pegged by inadequate funds allotted to them in the annual budget hence the need to develop a clever way bridge this gap. This is where HEFA comes in with a strategy of using funds from the market to supplement the funds from the budget.
